At the Belonging Network (formerly Adoptive Families Association of BC), we provide support, learning, and connection for adoptive and permanency families and youth from government care in BC.

Openness and Identity

This new online workshop is for adoptive applicants and parents who want to better understand openness, identity, belonging, and connection in adoption. Participants will gain practical tools and strategies to navigate complex emotions, support identity development, and foster trust and emotional safety within adoptive families.

Programs & workshops

Everyone finding or raising a permanency family needs special support. So do youth who are moving from government care into adulthood. Learn with us and gain the skills and confidence you need to navigate adoption, permanency, or independent adulthood. All of our educational opportunities are offered online so you can join us from wherever you are.

Introduction to Adoption and Permanency

This self-paced course is for anyone wanting to learn about adoption and permanency in BC, especially those interested in adopting from foster care.

Face to Face Connections: Online parent meetup

June 10: This virtual meetup provides a welcoming space for adoptive and permanency parents and caregivers to share experiences, support one another, and build a strong community — all from the comfort of your home.

Openness and Identity online workshop

June 23: A new online workshop for adoptive applicants and parents who want to explore openness in adoption, including communication with birth family members, navigating complex emotions, and ways to help children feel safe asking questions about their story.
